AERIALS Experimentation

AERIALS plans to explore and experiment with new technologies within Amateur Radio for use with the existing repeater system.

This experimentation may lead to additional capablities beyond the existing AERIALS 443 Repeater system.

We are interested in Linked Repeater Systems, improved Emergency Communications, Severe Weather Alerting, Spread Spectrum Communications, emerging Digital Communication techniques within the hobby, Space Radio experimentation, Television and Text Messaging as well as FM and ACSB voice communications.

We are especially interested in the use of existing Digital Codes Squelch access as now available on the N2CKH/R 447.925 in Lakewood as most new Amateur transcievers have DCS and PL as well as the APCO-25 Digital Radio standard that the ARRL is taking a close look at as well, see ARRL Technology Working Group on Digital Voice to the ARRL Technology Task Force and ARRL Technology Task Force and here is the view of Motorola on APCO-25.

We are also interested in other areas of the RF Spectrum beyond the 70cm band for which the Amateur Radio Service has allocations and is so far under utilizing such as the 1.35m, 33cm and 23cm bands.

Many of these interests are in areas that would require additional capabilities beyond just the 443 Repeater for which AERIALS would need to develop new systems to address.

As we forge ahead into the 21st Century, the Amateur Radio Service is poised to take part in many new communications developments and future International Space Station opportunities and more.

We in AERIALS very much look forward to these possibilities and desire to bring as much cutting edge technology to the AERIALS system as we can.

We encourage those interested in radio experimentation to contact us with you ideas and to volunteer your assistance.
